the story

The Sandlot said it best when Smalls was explaining what baseball meant to Benny the Jet:

                           "baseball was life"

Baseball is personal, it's poetry, it's art, and it's thinking. It's how you play a guy on first and third up in the 1st inning vs down in the 8th. It's a good pitcher in a 3-1 count and a good hitter in a 0-2 count. It's the only time being left or right handed matters. The questions baseball proposes are just as important as the answers baseball gives. It's where .40 points can change the positions on the field. It's a secret language and a book of unwritten rules. Baseball is more than a game and that's exactly what I am trying to show.

I am starting The Baseball Letters to hear all your stories, memories, and favorite moments. I want to see your notes and doodles and scorebooks. If it has to do with baseball and means something to you, send it in. Message me for any details or questions and thanks for stopping by.
